Me, Myself and I, Accountability!
What does it mean to have it?
- Webster’s Dictionary defines “accountability” as “the quality or state of being accountable”. An obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one’s actins. Accountability doesn’t mean punishment.
How do you show it?
- Occurs when individuals reliably deliver on their commitments. It is showing others they can be trusted to do what they say they’ll do. Leaders further demonstrate this by taking responsibility for the outcomes. Above all, accountability of their actions and decisions successfully transform effort into results.
What is it and why is it so important?
- Accountability eliminates the time and effort you spend on distracting activities and other unproductive behavior. When you make people accountable for their actions. You’re effectively teaching them to value their work. When done right, accountability can increase you and your teams skills and confidence.
I Found Myself in My Accountability Partner:
This is definitely an experience that you all must do for yourself. You will thank me later, I promise! First, after printing out the poem below, then proceed to any mirror. I am finding it best to do in a quiet place where no one will disturb me.
Secondly, while looking into the mirror. Hold up the paper and start reading the poem out loud. While keeping as much eye contact as possible with yourself and your accountability partners. The closer you can get to the mirror the better. It really starts to feel like you are seeing into your soul if you get close enough!
Reading out loud with enthusiasm, tears start to flow down my cheeks. What is the matter with me I thought? Then the other part of myself, says it’s okay it’s just because you care.
I continue reading and paying attention to the many emotions. This poem is bringing to the surface a lot of mixed feelings. I stay observant, not judging, accepting the moments as they are arising.
After that, as I wiped my tears, I find myself ultimately in amazement!
Me, myself and I were united into one single purpose by being accountable! We are the 3 amigos that constantly are caring, nurturing and understanding every part of us. It’s amazing how there is strength in numbers. The simplicity of using the mirrors self reflection, go figure! The perfect picture of me, just like God intended!
For all you fellas out there of course the gal in the glass, becomes the guy in the glass. All the feminine notations are changed to masculine versions!!
There are plenty of print outs available on the internet, but if you do have trouble finding one. Please do message me and I do have a copy I can share with you!!
I have only one thing to say when it comes to the “GAL IN THE GLASS,” Brenda. When it’s you that is looking, I’m sure you’re seeing quite a lass! (lass = term to denote an exceptional female). 🙂
